US Secretary of State (US) Mike Pompeo revealed that the US government could consider banning TikTok as part of a government plan to block applications made by Chinese companies.

"You have to know we take this very seriously. We certainly monitor it," Pompeo said.

Responding to comments from Pompeo, TikTok claimed that it provided a secure application and never provided user data to the Chinese government.

"We always prioritize a safe and comfortable application experience for users. We also never give user data to the Chinese government, we also will not do it if asked," TikTok said reportedly by Ubergizmo, Wednesday (8/7).

On the other hand, the US and China are still struggling in a trade war and until now have not reached an agreement. So it's no wonder that TikTok - as one of the applications made in China - is trapped in this situation.

Previously, the Indian government blocked 59 applications from China. Of these, well-known applications have also been blocked, for example, TikTok, WeChat, ShareIt, and UC Browser.
